THE LIBRARY CLOUD

Library Shed or THE SHED CLOUD a renovated and extended vertically, an early twentieth- century Washington Heights Library that was built as part of The New York Public Library system. The audio-visual center program is designed to expand their private educational operations as well as the public interface - providing these institutions with the civic potential as community learning spaces for content generation and viewing. The project’s design philosophy represents a stark contrast between existing and new structures, incorporating a transparent oblique parasite that attaches to an existing structure. This design element serves the building’s fundamental need for natural light, connecting visitors with reading. “Library Shed” combines old and new, creating a bright and airy atmosphere.
